We usually don’t take appointments — walk-ins are welcome. If you come before 10am, we can typically take your car the same day.

Do you do smog checks and smog repairs?

Yes — smog checks and smog repairs are one of our specialties. If your car fails the smog check, we can diagnose and fix the issue on the spot.

What kinds of cars do you work on?

All makes and models — domestic and import. If it runs, we can fix it.

Where are you located and is there parking?

We’re at 2800 Oakdale Ave in the Bayview neighborhood of San Francisco. There’s easy street parking right out front.

Frank

Frank has been a mechanic his entire adult life. What started as a passion for figuring out how things work became a career, and what became a career became a community institution on Oakdale Ave.

At A & C Auto Clinic, you deal with Frank directly. No service advisors, no front desk middleman, no runaround. He listens to your car, takes it for a drive if he needs to, and tells you exactly what is going on.

He is old-school in the best way. Frank diagnoses problems by sound and feel, drawing on three decades of experience before he ever reaches for a scan tool. When he recommends a repair, it is because you actually need it.

Minh on the bays

Working alongside Frank is Minh — an experienced mechanic with years of hands-on work behind him. Different hands, same standard: figure out what is actually wrong, fix it right, charge fair.

Between Frank and Minh, almost every problem you can throw at a car gets handled in-house. The few jobs we send out are the ones where a specialist tool genuinely makes the work safer or cheaper, and we will always tell you that up front before you authorize anything.
